The District Administration held a meeting with the leaders of various farmer unions to discuss the proper management of stubble during the upcoming paddy season in Hoshiarpur district. While chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal informed the farmer leaders about the various efforts being made by the administration regarding stubble management during the year 2024. She said that till last year, 2651 machines were made available to various farmers in the district on subsidy for the management of stubble and during the current year, approval for 178 machines has been issued, so that the farmers of the district can manage the stubble in a better way by using these machines. She said that these machines include in-situ machines for managing the stubble in the fields itself and ex-situ baler machines for collecting the stubble and using its bales in different industrial units.
She informed that the Agriculture Department has the complete details and mobile numbers of the owners of these machines to provide information to the farmers regarding the availability of machines at the block level, and the farmers of the district can use these machines by coordinating with the Agriculture Department. She expressed thanks for the cooperation given by the farmers of the district in stubble management during the past time and appealed to all the farmer unions and farmers of the district to make a significant contribution in the protection of the environment by properly managing the stubble during the current year as well. On this occasion, the leaders of various farmer unions assured full cooperation to the district administration regarding stubble management. She said that the farmers are already conscious about the protection of the environment. She demanded from the administration to make available stubble management machines in the cooperative societies of the district, so that small and marginal farmers can get a proper solution to the stubble with these machines. During the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rahul Chaba appealed to the farmers to take full advantage of the awareness camps organized by the Agriculture Department in the villages and to use the machines available in the district as much as possible in their fields as well as in the fields of other farmers.
On this occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Davinder Singh, Block Officer of Agriculture Department Jagveer Singh, President of Doaba Kisan Committee Gurnam Singh, Surinder Singh Pagdi Sambhal Lahar, Paramjit Singh Babbar, Jaswant Singh Bhattal (Shere Punjab Kisan Union), Sukhveer Singh, Lakhwinder Singh of Bharatiya Kisan Union Doaba and various farmer leaders participated in the meeting.
