Chandigarh/June 17/Daljeet AjnohaI :n a campaign against corruption in Punjab, Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Naib Tehsildar Vrinderpal Singh Dhoot resident of village Dhoot Kalan, Hoshiarpur on charges of possession of property above his income.
Revealing here today, a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the arrest was made after a vigilance investigation conducted by Jalandhar Range in which Dhoot collected property more than his legitimate earnings in the name of himself and his family members. The charges were investigated.
The spokesperson further said that the investigation was investigated from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2018. The investigation revealed that the total income from all sources and assets of Dhut during this incumbency was Rs 3,58,97,111.59 while his total expenditure and property was Rs 11,18,34,544.22 – which is Rs 7,59,37,432.63 (21.54 percent) higher than his legal income.
The spokesperson said this significant inequality suggests that Dhoot, while serving as a public servant, acquired unaccounted for real and movable property and spent funds far more than his legitimate earnings, is a direct violation of anti-corruption laws.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Jalandhar Range under Anti Corruption Act and the culprit has been arrested. He will be arraigned in a competent court tomorrow and the further investigation into the case is underway.
