Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha /Nov.21 : To mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Hind Di Chadar, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, a grand Nagar Kirtan was flagged off from Gurdwara Sri Rampur Khera, Hoshiarpur, with thousands of devotees participating in the solemn procession. The event was organized by the Punjab Government in collaboration with the Sikh Sangat as part of statewide commemorations.The Nagar Kirtan began after prayer led by Sant Seva Singh Ji. Under the blessings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the guidance of the Panj Pyare, the procession set out for Sri Anandpur Sahib amid resonant jaikaras and chanting of hymns.Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajwinder Singh, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, MLAs Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, Karamvir Singh Ghumman, and Dr. Ishank Kumar, along with senior district officials, paid obeisance at the gurdwara. A contingent of the Punjab Police presented a Guard of Honour before the holy procession began its journey through Bhoonga, Hariana, Bhikhowal, Chabbewal, Mahilpur, and Garhshankar, where devotees welcomed it with flower showers.Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajwinder Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government is organizing a series of events to commemorate the Guru’s sacrifice for truth, justice, and religious freedom. He described Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as a pioneer of human rights and communal harmony whose teachings continue to inspire generations.At Mahilpur, Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said the state government will organize major ceremonies in Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 23, 24, and 25, including a special session of the Vidhan Sabha on November 24. He appealed to devotees to participate with their families in the historic event.In Chabbewal, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal highlighted that religious figures, state leaders, and dignitaries from across India would attend the commemorations at Anandpur Sahib. He said the celebrations aim to spread Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s message of unity and sacrifice on a global scale.Welcoming the Nagar Kirtan at Hoshiarpur, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa recalled Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s supreme sacrifice in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, where he laid down his life to protect the faith of Kashmiri Pandits, along with Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji. “It was this act of courage and compassion that preserved human dignity and religious freedom,” he said.MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar described Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as a symbol of universal brotherhood and secularism, adding that his teachings continue to guide humanity toward peace and equality. The occasion also saw the honoring of the Panj Pyare and several distinguished personalities for their service to the Sikh community.
