Rs 60 Lakh Infrastructure Project Initiated

Hoshiarpur/Nov 22/Daljeet Ajnoha : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has reiterated its commitment to improving infrastructure in agricultural mandis across Punjab. In keeping with this vision, construction of a new shed and permanent trading platforms (pukka phars) has commenced at Dihana Mandi in the Chabbewal Assembly constituency, with the state government allocating Rs 60 lakh for the project.Chabbewal MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar laid the foundation stone for the project and stated that the government remains dedicated to addressing the needs of farmers and commission agents (arhtiyas). He acknowledged the contribution of Hoshiarpur MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, noting that several crores from his MP fund have been directed toward local development works in the district.Dr. Kumar said the newly built shed would help farmers store their produce safely and provide relief to commission agents during adverse weather conditions. He emphasized that permanent sheds and trading platforms are essential for every mandi and highlighted that the Punjab government is undertaking similar projects across the state to improve mandi facilities.“Farmers and commission agents are the backbone of our agricultural economy,” said Dr. Kumar. “While farmers cultivate and bring crops to market, commission agents ensure their distribution across the country. The government is prioritizing solutions to the challenges faced by both groups.”He added that other mandis within the Chabbewal constituency would also be developed based on local requirements.The ceremony was attended by Market Committee Garhshankar Chairman Baldeep Singh, Mandi Board Executive Engineer Dilpreet, and several local representatives including Sarpanches Gurvinder Singh Bawa, Baljit Singh Kotfatuhi, and Jaswinder Singh Thakkarwal. Prominent community members such as Rikki Parmar, Amandeep Singh Mona Kala, and others were also present on the occasion.
