The Punjabi children’s magazine Nikkiyan Karumblan is a historic achievement for Hoshiarpur district, said Dr. Jaswant Rai, District Language and Research Officer, while releasing the latest issue of the magazine. He stated that this is the only Punjabi children’s magazine that has been published continuously for over three decades, and its name has been recorded in the India Book of Records.
He emphasized that in today’s time, Nikkiyan Karumblan remains the only privately-run Punjabi children’s magazine to maintain uninterrupted publication for three decades. He also highlighted the tireless efforts of eminent Punjabi children’s literature writer Baljinder Maan, who has popularized the magazine both nationally and internationally. Chief guest Sukhhi Bath, founder of Punjab Bhavan, Surrey (Canada), expressed pride in the presence of dedicated warriors like Baljinder Maan, who are passionately promoting Punjabi language and culture. Panel members of the event included Onkar Singh Teje (In-charge, “Naviyaan Kalamaan Navi Udaan” Project), State Awardees Nitin Suman and Ajay Kumar Khatkar, Young Awardee Vandhna Heer, Anju V Ratti, Dr. Keval Ram, Pardeep Singh Mauji, Ram Teerath Parmar, Jasvir Sidhu, and Harjinder Singh Niaana. They commended the magazine, noting that each issue offers the richness of three books — poems, stories, and articles — in one. Moreover, the entertaining and meaningful content enhances children’s creativity and critical thinking.
