Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 21 : The time has come to wipe tears from every mother’s eyes. Now, the battle against drugs will be decisive.”
These emotional words were spoken by Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur, while addressing a large public gathering in village Bambeli today. The gathering saw an enthusiastic turnout of villagers, including youth, women, and elderly citizens.
Dr. Chabbewal expressed deep concern, saying that drug abuse is hollowing out the roots of our society, pushing our youth into darkness, and destroying the happiness of families. He urged society as a whole to unite and stand firmly against this evil.
Speaking directly to the youth, he said, “Your strength lies in your fields, your books, and the hard work of your hands — not in any bottle or packet of drugs.”
He assured that any youth willing to leave the path of addiction and restart life will receive full support and rehabilitation. He further shared that a special anti-drug campaign is already underway in the region, with the involvement of schools, panchayats, and social organizations to raise awareness.
Dr. Chabbewal also emphasized that with the help of the administration, drug hotspots will be identified and completely eliminated.
He praised the people of Chabbewal Assembly constituency, calling them fortunate to have a young, aware, and committed MLA like Dr. Eshank. He stated that Dr. Eshank understands the depth of the drug problem and has the determination and ability to root it out completely. Dr. Chabbewal said he is confident that with Dr. Eshank’s tireless efforts and the support of the local population, the Chabbewal constituency will soon become drug-free and serve as a model for others.
On this occasion, villagers collectively took a pledge to stand united against drug abuse.
The event concluded with a powerful slogan and collective resolution for a drug-free Punjab:
“Punjab will give up drugs, and embrace a new dream!”
