Power Dept Cracks Down on

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 1 : Following directives from senior power department officials, strict action is underway against defaulters who fail to pay electricity bills and those indulging in power theft. Department teams are conducting ongoing checking campaigns to recover outstanding dues and curb electricity pilferage.
In this connection, the meter at a house in Gadi Gate Mohalla—owned by former councillor Anmol Jain—was disconnected due to non-payment of bills. Instead of settling the dues and getting the meter restored, the occupant installed an illegal “kundi” (temporary hook-up) to draw power. Upon receiving information, the department team rushed to the spot, removed the kundi, and initiated further proceedings.
SDO Vikrant Joshi shared these details in a press release issued here today. He stated that the Punjab government and PSPCL authorities have issued firm instructions not to spare defaulters or power thieves under any circumstances. Checking drives will continue in the coming days, he added. A report on the incident has been sent to higher authorities for necessary legal and departmental action.
