Hoshiarpur to emerge as a model of development in next five years: Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh
Hoshiarpur/ August 7/Daljeet Ajnoha : The local Municipal Corporation on Friday got new mayor as Parveen Saini elected by the councillors while Surinder Kumar and Sandeep Chechi were elected as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
The newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor also assumed office in the presence of MLA Bram Shanker Jimpa. They pledged to work dedicatedly for the overall development of Hoshiarpur and to ensure better civic amenities for the residents.
Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh expressed confidence that with the support of the people, development works in Hoshiarpur would get new momentum and the city would emerge as a model of development in the state over the next five years. He said the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann would extend all possible support for the city’s holistic development. Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the election of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor was a consensus-based approach while also ensuring representation to women and the youth. He added that responsibilities would be given to other councillors too so that every office-bearer could contribute efficaciously to the city’s development.
The Health Minister said the Punjab Government had fulfilled every promise made to the people, highlighting initiatives in healthcare, education, the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme and the Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana. He asserted that the pace of development within the Municipal Corporation limits would be accelerated further to ensure better civic infrastructure and public services.
Mayor Praveen Saini said that her priority would be to implement development works in accordance with the aspirations of the people and ensure that there was no slowdown in the city’s progress.
Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner Ramvir, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, councillors from various wards and other officials were also present on the occasion.
