Hoshiarpur : Senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha held an interaction with SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Malik, who shared detailed information about the district police’s ongoing large-scale drive against drugs and organized crime.
SSP Malik stated that the intensified action is being carried out under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the guidance of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. He highlighted that the campaign is part of the state’s broader anti-drug mission, with special focus on dismantling supply chains and taking strict action against gangsters and smugglers.
Sharing details of the recent crackdown, SSP Malik revealed that a major operation was launched across Hoshiarpur district, during which:
1200 FIRs were registered against gangsters and criminal offenders
Around 1,500 drug peddlers and smugglers have been arrested so far
Drug money and properties worth approximately ₹30 crore have been frozen
Nearly 400 drug addicts have been admitted to the De-Addiction Centre in Hoshiarpur for treatment and rehabilitation
He further informed that a 72-hour intensive operation is currently underway. Within this period alone, police have made 125 arrests, while around 40 suspects have been rounded up for questioning. A significant quantity of narcotic substances has also been seized during the raids.
SSP Malik emphasized that the drive will continue with full force and warned that organized crime networks and gangsters will have to face the law. He reiterated the district police’s commitment to making Hoshiarpur drug-free and ensuring strict enforcement against those involved in the narcotics trade.
Senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha appreciated the efforts of the district police and said such strong action sends a clear message that law enforcement agencies are determined to curb the drug menace in Punjab.
