Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 26 : Member of Parliament from Hoshiarpur, Dr. Raj Kumar, specially honored international cyclist Balraj Singh Chauhan for receiving the prestigious State Award from the Punjab Government on Independence Day. On this occasion, Dr. Pankaj Shiv was also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raj Kumar said it was a matter of great pride that Hoshiarpur’s cyclist Balraj Singh Chauhan earned this recognition through his hard work and dedication. He said Balraj has brought glory to Hoshiarpur at national and international levels. He is an inspiration for the youth, and many youngsters have taken up cycling motivated by him. He further added that the Punjab Government is making every possible effort to promote sports and encourage sportspersons.
Expressing gratitude, Balraj Singh Chauhan thanked the Punjab Government and MP Dr. Raj Kumar. He said this was the first time a cyclist had been chosen for the State Award in Punjab, and being considered worthy of it is a huge honor. He added that such recognition further boosts confidence and encourages him to participate in more major international competitions in the future.
Appealing to the youth, Balraj urged them to stay away from drugs and instead adopt sports for mental and physical well-being. Notably, Balraj Chauhan has cycled over 1,90,000 kilometers in various national and international events and has been honored by several colleges, schools, universities, and sports clubs.
