Spiritual Author and Social Thinker

Hoshiarpur/June 7/Daljeet Ajnoha : On the occasion of Founder’s Day at Vidya Mandir School, renowned spiritual author and social thinker Dr. Harshvinder Singh Pathania graced the event and shared deep insights from his life journey and literary pursuits.

Dr. Pathania recalled that his early education began at Army School, Jammu, owing to his father’s service in the Indian Army. After his father’s retirement, he continued his schooling at DAV School, Hoshiarpur, while spending significant time at his maternal home. It was there that he developed a passion for reading during frequent visits to the library with his maternal uncle, Shri Ratn Singh Rajput. This love for books laid the foundation for his lifelong journey in education, literature, and service.

An academic scholar with multiple postgraduate degrees in five different subjects, Dr. Pathania holds a Ph.D. in Economics. His literary work, “Yogi Ki Amar Katha,” earned him the honorary title of Vidya Vachaspati (Doctor) from Vikramshila University.

Driven by a desire to seek answers to the spiritual questions that arose in his mind since childhood, Dr. Pathania began a personal journey of exploration. This journey culminated in the publication of his first book, “Prarthana Shatakam,” in 2017. However, it was his spiritual biography “Yogi Ki Amar Katha,” based on the life of Siddh Yogi Baba Balak Nath Ji, that brought him wide recognition as a writer.

When asked about the inspiration behind the book, Dr. Pathania shared that his family has been serving the temples of Baba Balak Nath Ji and Baba Bharthari Nath Ji for over 300 years. His spiritual curiosity led him to visit all 12 Jyotirlingas and numerous Shakti Peethas over 16 years. Encouraged by Mr. Anurag Sood, President of Vidya Mandir School, he compiled his learnings into this acclaimed work, published in 2021.

Dr. Pathania credited his late uncle Shri Ratn Singh Rajput and his late father Captain Mohinder Singh Ji for nurturing his passion for knowledge and writing.

Speaking on the subject of astrology, Dr. Pathania emphasized that astrology is an inseparable part of Indian philosophy and Vedic tradition. He expressed concern over its misuse by some for personal gain and stressed that this sacred science should be used to bring positivity to people’s lives.

Actively involved in various institutions, Dr. Pathania concluded his message by stating, “We must strive to feel the pain of others and work to reduce it. That is the essence of true education and the core teaching of all religions.”
