(Hoshiarpur girls bring glory to the district; felicitated by MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa and other dignitaries)
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.6 : Meenakshi and Diksha, students of Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary Model School, Hoshiarpur, along with Tamanna from the Sports Wing, brought laurels to the district by clinching the gold medal in the Girls Under-17 category at the State-Level Beach Volleyball Championship. The team secured this historic victory by defeating Faridkot in the finals held in Ludhiana.
In a special ceremony held to honor their achievement, MLA Mr. Brahm Shankar Jimpa, District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Director of Youth Services Preet Kohli, President of Vidya Mandir Institution Anurag Sood, Retired Commandant Chanchal Singh, and other distinguished guests felicitated the young champions.
MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa praised the dedication of the players and the commitment of the coaching staff. He acknowledged the efforts of District Sports Department, Vidya Mandir’s Volleyball Coaches Principal Ravi Mehta, Principal Malkiat Kumar, and Sports Wing Coach Renu Dutta, whose selfless service and hard work have contributed to Hoshiarpur’s growing success in volleyball at the state level. He further emphasized his continued efforts to engage the youth in sports and social service, aiming to help them become responsible citizens.
Anurag Sood, President of the institution, also congratulated the winners and appreciated the progress Hoshiarpur has made in the field of sports under the guidance of MLA Jimpa. He highlighted the leading role played by the District Sports Department in this success.
