Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 8 : The Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who had promised to wield the green pen in favour of the unemployed, today sparked outrage among teachers by wielding the red pen to terminate the jobs of nearly 300 Punjab teachers.
Block Kot Fatuhi’s Government Teachers Union president Narinder Ajnoha and general secretary Umkar Singh stated that the previous government had issued a notification in 2021 for the recruitment of 4161 master cadre teachers. The Punjab government later distributed appointment letters to these teachers in January 2023. Despite this, the Bhagwant Mann government delayed their deployment to schools for a long time and finally had them join in 2023.
However, in recent days, the Education Department has issued termination notices to around 300 of these 4161 master cadre teachers, clearly stating that they will be removed from service. The notices also halt their probation period.
The leaders demanded that the Chief Minister and Education Minister immediately withdraw the notices issued to these teachers. They warned that if the government does not revoke them, a vigorous struggle will be launched, and under no circumstances will any teacher’s job be allowed to go.
Those present on the occasion included Narinder Ajnoha, Onkar Singh, Hafiz, Kulwinder Singh, Manohar Lal, Kulwant Singh, Ravi Kumar, Ashwini Kumar, Maheshinder Singh, Sukhvir Singh, Baljinder Singh, Karmveer Singh, Ajay Kumar, Hemraj, Mandeep Singh, and Sandeep Kumar.
