Hoshiarpur/August 27/Daljeet Ajnoha : The District Legal Services Authority, under the directions of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, will organize the third National Lok Adalat of the year in the district on September 13, 2025.
Sharing this information, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Rajinder Aggarwal, said that in this Lok Adalat, cases under Section 138 of the N.I. Act, pending and pre-litigation bank recovery matters, labor disputes, MACT cases, electricity and water bill disputes (excluding non-compoundable), matrimonial disputes, traffic challans, revenue cases, other civil and less serious criminal cases, compoundable cases, and domestic disputes will be taken up.
He further stated that to ensure the settlement of maximum cases, pre-Lok Adalats are being organized in the courts by judicial officers so that litigants whose cases are pending in courts may benefit from the Lok Adalat system.
Citing an example, he mentioned that in the District & Sessions Court, appeals pending since 2017-18, involving disputes originating as far back as 2009-10 in various courts, were also amicably resolved through mutual settlement. Both parties considered themselves winners and happily ended the disputes. Similarly, other courts in Hoshiarpur district are also holding pre-Lok Adalats to resolve disputes through compromise.
The District & Sessions Judge appealed to the public that all parties with pending civil or compoundable criminal cases in courts may submit an application to the concerned court to get their cases listed in the pre-Lok Adalat or National Lok Adalat and resolve their disputes amicably.
CJ(M)-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Neeraj Goel, also appealed to the public to take maximum benefit of Lok Adalats, as they help save both time and money. The decisions made in Lok Adalats are final and cannot be challenged in appeal, which also helps in strengthening mutual harmony between both parties.
In addition, any individual with a domestic dispute that is not pending in any court can submit an application at the Mediation and Conciliation Centre (Room No. 58), New District & Sessions Court Complex, Hoshiarpur. Both parties will be called, and the matter will be resolved amicably through mediation.
