Kapurthala, Dec. 26/Daljeet Ajnoha : The BJP observed Veer Baal Divas at a temple dharm sabha here on Friday, paying tribute to the young Sahibzadas who laid down their lives for the protection of country and faith. The event was held under the leadership of BJP district president Ranjit Singh Khojewal.
Former SC Commission chairman and BJP state vice-president Rajesh Baga was the chief guest. Paying homage to Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, Baga said their martyrdom for safeguarding religion will forever be etched in golden letters in Indian history. “This day reminds us of those brave young boys who cheerfully sacrificed their lives for the nation and dharma,” he added.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Baga noted that declaring December 26 as Veer Baal Divas has increased awareness about national pride among children. He highlighted that the sacrifice of the sons of Sikhism’s 10th Guru, Gobind Singh, halted forced conversions at the time and protected faith.
Khojewal recalled that PM Modi announced this observance in 2022, marking the day the Guru’s Sahibzadas—Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh—attained martyrdom. He emphasised the Sikh panth’s enduring sacrifices for national unity and integrity, lamenting how history has often been distorted to erase the honour due to true heroes.
“Veer Baal Divas symbolises the resolve to do anything for protecting Indianness,” Khojewal said. “It teaches that age is no barrier in moments of supreme valour. The courage, ideals and sacrifice of all four Sahibzadas continue to inspire every Indian to love the motherland.”
