Punjab Govt Targets Child Begging-Free

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.20 :Backfinco Punjab Chairman Sandeep Saini stated that the Mann government’s clear vision and strong resolve are driving a decisive battle against child begging in the state. Under the state-level special campaign ‘Project Jiwan Jot 2.0’, significant results have already emerged.Saini shared that the initiative has so far rescued 1,023 children from begging—a major achievement. Of these, 336 have been enrolled in schools to foster self-reliance through education. Additionally, 8 children have been admitted to anganwadi centres for early education and nutrition.He added that 38 children from economically weaker families have benefited from the sponsorship scheme, ensuring no hurdles in their studies or basic needs. This effort forms a strong link to pull children from begging and guide them towards a dignified future.Chairman Saini emphasized that the Mann government’s goal extends beyond mere rescue—it aims to provide education, security, and a better life. Societal participation is crucial for success.He appealed to all Punjab residents: if you spot children begging anywhere, immediately inform the Child Helpline at 1098 to rescue them in time and secure their future.
