Strict Action Against Use of Subsidised Urea in Non-Agricultural Works: Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 8 : Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has constituted a district-level task force to prevent the unauthorised use and diversion of subsidised urea fertiliser in the district. The task force includes the Chief Agriculture Officer, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, and the SP Headquarters.
DC Ashika Jain informed that the primary objective of the task force is to monitor and completely stop the use of subsidised urea fertiliser—meant for agricultural purposes—in non-agricultural activities. She stated that the Government of India provides heavy subsidies to make urea available to farmers at reasonable rates, but some industrial units and factories are misusing it.
She added that the use of urea fertiliser in animal feed preparation, resin manufacturing, plywood factories, and other non-agricultural works causes financial losses to the government and affects its availability for farmers.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Dapinder Singh Sandhu said the task force will keep constant vigil on the supply, storage, and use of urea fertiliser in the district. He urged that anyone with information or complaints about unauthorised use should contact the relevant block office of the Agriculture Department.
The Chief Agriculture Officer warned that strict legal action will be taken against offenders under the Fertiliser Control Order-1985.
