MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Distributes Ration Kits to 600 Families
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 24 : In a major relief for economically weaker families and a significant step towards strengthening household food security, Dr. Ishank Kumar rolled out the Punjab Government’s ambitious “Meri Rasoi Yojna” in Chabbewal constituency on Sunday, distributing free ration kits to nearly 600 beneficiary families in Chabbewal & Ajnoha villages.
The MLA distributed kits to around 250 families in Chabbewal and 350 families in Ajnoha, while informing that the remaining beneficiaries across the constituency will receive their kits by June 30. Notably, Chabbewal has become one of the first few constituencies in Punjab to begin on-ground distribution under the scheme launched recently by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ishank Kumar said that the objective of the “Meri Rasoi Yojna” is to reduce the burden of rising kitchen expenses on poor and middle-class families while ensuring better nutrition for children and women. Under the scheme, every beneficiary family will receive specially prepared kitchen kits containing 2 kg chana dal, 2 kg sugar, 1 kg iodised salt, 200 grams turmeric and 1 litre mustard oil. These kits will be distributed four times a year to eligible families.
He further mentioned that the Punjab Government is continuously working to make life easier for every section of society through people-centric welfare schemes and he is committed to ensure delivering these benefits to his constituents at the earliest.
Dr. Ishank Kumar stated that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has moved beyond mere announcements and is delivering direct relief to people through schemes such as free electricity, Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Yojna, Mukh Mantri Sihat Yojna, Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna and now the Meri Rasoi Yojna.
“This scheme is not just about ration distribution, but about ensuring dignity and nutritional support for families struggling with rising household expenses,” said the MLA. He added that special focus is being laid on ensuring that no household suffers due to lack of essential food items.
Beneficiaries present during the distribution programme appreciated the initiative and thanked their MLA for providing the benefits of this scheme to them at such an early stage of launch of this scheme. Many women beneficiaries stated that the scheme would provide considerable support in managing household kitchens amid rising inflation.
Dr. Ishank Kumar reiterated that every eligible beneficiary in the constituency will receive the benefits of the scheme within the stipulated timeframe and assured that the distribution process is being carried out transparently and efficiently. Many office bearers, party volunteers, zila parishad and block samiti members, Sarpanch-panchs along with a large number of beneficiaries were present at the occasion.
