District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema

Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/July 8 :  Following directions from Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhunga. During the visit, she reviewed routine immunization services, cold-chain management, the drug dispensing center for de-addiction, and activities of the Multipurpose Rural Health Unit (MRHU).
During the inspection, Dr. Garg, along with VCC C. Subedar Upkar Singh, examined cold-chain points. She inspected ILR units, deep freezers, temperature registers, vaccine storage arrangements and other cold-chain records to ensure vaccines were being maintained at safe, prescribed temperatures. Stocks of vaccines and logistics were also checked and found to be accurate and satisfactory as per records.
Thereafter, she observed an ongoing routine immunization session at CHC Bhunga. She reviewed beneficiary registration, vaccine administration procedures, maintenance of immunization registers, availability of AEFI kits and post-immunization monitoring. She also examined records and administration of birth doses given to newborns — BCG, oral polio vaccine (OPV) and Hepatitis-B. She ensured that all eligible newborns were receiving these vaccines within the recommended time frame and that related records were being maintained as per guidelines. Staff were instructed to ensure timely immunization services for every eligible child and pregnant woman and to keep records regularly updated.
Dr. Garg also inspected the de-addiction drug dispensing center at CHC Bhunga. She cross-checked online and offline stock registers of medicines, which matched and were found to be accurate. She also verified records of two beneficiaries undergoing treatment; their details corresponded correctly with entries on the online portal and registers.
During the visit, Dr. Garg toured the MRHU Bhunga, where she held detailed discussions with Dr. Tanuja Mishra about various research projects being conducted under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). They reviewed project progress, objectives, timely reporting and measures to advance research activities more effectively in line with prescribed guidelines.
Dr. Garg instructed staff to keep all records related to cold-chain management, immunization services, medicine stocks and other health services updated as per regulations. She emphasized that all health department programmes should be implemented effectively according to prescribed standards to ensure timely, quality healthcare services for the public.
