Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha/August 16 : The Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, celebrated Independence Day on August 15 with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kaur hoisted the national flag at the ceremony, which was attended by senior health department officials, doctors, paramedical staff and other employees.
The event was led by SMO In‑charge, District Hospital Dr. Navjot Singh, and SMO Dr. Neha Paul. Other dignitaries present included Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Swati Shimar, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg, District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh, District Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, Principal of the ANM Training School Mrs. Sukhwinder Kaur, and Lions Club Hoshiarpur Pearl president Lion Vijay Arora, along with doctors, paramedical staff and other healthcare workers.
Students from the ANM Training School rendered the national anthem, filling the occasion with a deep sense of patriotism and national pride.
In her address, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kaur extended Independence Day greetings to all officers and staff. She said the nation’s freedom reminds us of the great sacrifices made by freedom fighters and martyrs. She urged all health department personnel to perform their duties with honesty, dedication and a spirit of service.
Dr. Kaur emphasized that every employee of the health department plays a crucial role in delivering quality healthcare. Ensuring public health and providing timely medical services remain the department’s foremost responsibilities.
During the ceremony, staff members who have performed their duties diligently, honestly and with dedication — and those with outstanding work performance — were honored with certificates. The Civil Surgeon applauded the awardees and encouraged them to continue their efforts with the same commitment in the future.
The programme also paid tribute to the martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
