Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 16 :; D.A.V. College of Education, Hoshiarpur celebrated 80th ‘Independence Day’ with great enthusiasm patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride. On this great occasion, Worthy Chief Guest Advocate Sh. Davinder Mohan Sharma, Correspondent Schools, D.A.V. College Managing Committee, Hoshiarpur hoisted the National Flag in the premises of the College with full dignity & respect.
On this patriotic festivity, Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat Group of the College organized a cultural programme. Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla formally welcomed the dignitaries and congratulated on this special occasion. She further motivated the students to follow the ideals of the great freedom fighters and to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, discipline and social responsibility. B.Ed. Sem.-III students also showcased a colourful spectacle of India’s vision in the honour of motherland and sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters through dances. B.Ed. student Amit Thakur delivered a speech on Freedom to Viksit Bharat: The Power of Youth’ and Isha, Navneet and Jaskamal created an ambience of patriotic devotion through song.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Sh. Davinder Mohan Sharma first congratulated the audience on this special day and emphasised that true independence is reflected not only in freedom from foreign rule but also in the ability of individuals to think independently, act responsibly and contribute meaningfully to society. He also motivated the students to work hard and respect the dignity of the nation.
On this great occasion, President Dr. Anoop Kumar urged everyone to work together for the advancement of the nation and to remain committed to the ideals of justice, equality and fraternity. Secretary Sh. R.M. Bhalla also emphasized that the day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters that fought tirelessly for the country’s independence. Advocate Sh. Navroze Sharma, Secretary Education College also highlighted that education is a powerful instrument for the collective growth of society and the nation.
Chief Guest Sh. Davinder Mohan Sharma, Principal Dr. Vidhi Bhalla and Dignitaries also felicitated B.Ed. student Pawandeep Singh for Gold Medal in 1500 meter race and Jaismeen for Gold Medal in Shot Put and Discus Throw in Panjab University Inter-College Annual Athletic Meet. Sakshi, Kajal, Amit Thakur, Sahil Sahota and Anuradha who participated in the celebration of International Youth Day organized by Red Ribbon Club and the students who secured top positions in On-the-Spot Teaching Aid preparation competition organized at college level were also felicitated.
The celebration was concluded with a vote of thanks of the dignitaries followed by the National Anthem sung by the students.
