Modern Education to Get a Boost from Schools to Colleges
Chandigarh/Daljeet Ajnoha /August 21 : The Punjab Government is undertaking several significant reforms in school and higher education. Punjab Education Secretary Sonali Giri, IAS, shared details of the government’s education reform initiatives during an exclusive interaction with Journalist.
Sonali Giri said the government’s primary objective is to provide students with quality, future-oriented education. Artificial Intelligence (AI), entrepreneurship and modern technological skills are being promoted in school education. These initiatives will help students develop creativity, problem-solving abilities and an entrepreneurial mindset.
She said teachers are an important part of the education system and the government is committed to addressing their genuine concerns. Efforts are being made to provide teachers with better support, training and a conducive working environment. Digital education, skill development, career awareness, practical learning and critical thinking are also being given greater emphasis in schools.
In higher education, the government is focusing on improving the infrastructure and academic environment of government and government-aided colleges. The centralised online admission system in Punjab has also made the admission process more streamlined and convenient for students.
Regarding the long-pending demand for the merger of staff of government-aided schools with the government education system, Sonali Giri, IAS, said that the matter is under consideration by the Punjab Government. She said the government is examining the issue from all relevant aspects before taking an appropriate decision.
She said Punjab’s progress is directly linked with the quality of its education system. Strengthening schools and colleges, resolving teachers’ concerns and preparing students for future challenges are among the key priorities of the Punjab Government.
