• Payment worth Rs. 103.15 CR credited to farmers’ account, all arrangements put in place for smooth operation
• Directs SDMs to keep regular check on entire procurement operation

The procurement operation is going on seamlessly in the district with 65259 metric tonne of wheat crop arrival in the mandis of which 63354 metric tonnes, i.e. 97 percent, have been procured by the respective agencies.
Giving details in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that requisite arrangements had been put in place at purchase centres to facilitate all stakeholders. She also directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates to keep a regular check on the procurement operations so that the needful could be done promptly where required. She said sufficient number of gunny bags and tarpaulins were already with the agencies so that the lifting could not be stalled at any cost as well as lifting the crop within the stipulated time. So far, the concerned agencies have lifted 13822 MT from the mandis which is around 124 percent against the given timeline of 72 hours, she added.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain also stated that the payment was being disbursed directly to the accounts of the farmers within next 48 hours of the purchase thus payment to the tune of Rs. 103.15 crore had been credited to farmers’ bank accounts. She said that the agencies namely Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Warehouse and FCI were purchasing the crop of farmers at 65 mandis and two temporary yards in the district. She also directed the concerned officials to make regular visits to the mandis to take stock of the present pace of the procurement.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the farmers to bring only dry crop besides instructing the concerned officials to speed up the lifting process to make space for fresh arrival of the crop.
