Deputy Commissioner and SSP visited different polling booths
District Election Officer thanked voters and polling staff for peaceful voting
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.15 : Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal said that Panchayat elections have been conducted successfully and peacefully in Hoshiarpur district. She informed that till 4 pm, polling in 10 blocks of the district was 62.05 % including 52.39 % in Garhshankar block, 61.07% in Mahilpur, 64.3 % in Hoshiarpur-1, 60.28 % in Hoshiarpur-2, 62 % in Tanda, 64.53 %
in Dasuya, 59.83 %in Mukerian, 65.91 % in Hajipur, 64.93 % in Talwara and 69.48 % voting in Block Bhunga.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that there are 1405 Gram Panchayats in 10 blocks of the district and the number of polling booths is 1683. He informed that a total of 2730 candidates contested for the post of Sarpanch and 6751 candidates for the post of Panch in the district. It may be noted that 265 Panchayats in the district have already been elected unanimously.
The Deputy Commissioner praised the officers and employees performing their duties in the election process and said that the elections were conducted successfully due to the duty performed by them in a responsible manner. She praised and thanked the voters who enthusiastically exercised their right to vote.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, along with SSP Surender Lamba, today visited different polling booths and reviewed the voting process to conduct fear-free, fair and transparent elections.
During this, she visited the polling booths of village Ajjowal, Adamwal, Bajwara, Hardokhanpur, Ram Colony Camp, and Jahankhelan and other places and reviewed the preparations there. She inspected the election process at the polling booths and obtained information about the election situation from the officers present there.
SSP Surender Lamba especially reviewed the security arrangements and inspected the deployment of police force. He ensured that adequate number of policemen are present at the booths so that any untoward incident can be dealt with. He gave strict instructions to the policemen to maintain law and order during the elections and not allow any anti-social elements to interfere in the voting process.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the voting percentage in the district was 12.48 % till 10 am, 25.57 % till 12 noon, 45.64 % till 2 pm and 62.05 % till 4 pm.
