Hoshiarpur: SIR completes 100% work ahead

Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha /August 5—Under directions from the Election Commission of India, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Ashika Jain on Tuesday said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the district has been completed 100 percent ahead of the scheduled time.
Jain said booth-level officers (BLOs) distributed a total of 12,68,648 electoral census forms across the district and have completed the digitisation of the returned forms. Of these, 11,69,930 (92.22 percent) forms were received offline while 1,487 (0.12 percent) were received online.
During the SIR, officials found 15,265 electors absent, 48,512 who have permanently shifted residence and 28,475 electors who have died. Information for 306 electors could not be obtained. Lists of all these categories have been handed over by BLOs to booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by recognised political parties for their information.
Jain said the draft electoral roll will be published on August 13. Claims and objections will be accepted by all Electoral Registration Officers in the district up to September 12. Disposal of claims and objections will be completed by October 8, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on October 12, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner praised all BLOs, BLAs and district residents for their cooperation and thanked them for ensuring the SIR was completed ahead of schedule.
