Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha : Under the “Jan-Jan Ka Rakhein Dhian, TB Mukt Bharat Abhian” campaign, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal led the distribution of ration kits to 50 TB patients at the training centre on World TB Day today. A awareness poster on TB elimination was also released during the event.
Present on the occasion were District TB Officer Dr. Shakti Sharma, Dr. Shaminder Kaur, Dr. Satish Pundhir (World Health Partner), Akhilesh Sharma (Programme Director), District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ravinder Jassal, Harjeet Singh (DPC), Narendra Singh (DPC), Sukhjeet Kaur (DNM), Kuldeep Singh (STS), Deepak Kumar (MPHWCM), Renu Bala (TB HV), and representatives from the Shruti Sonalika Group.
Sharing details about the TB programme, Dr. Mandeep Kamal said this year’s World TB Day is being observed globally under the theme “Yes! We can end TB: Led by India, driven by community.” The aim is to raise awareness about the disease and prevent TB-related deaths. The government has launched a 100-day TB-free campaign, and she urged panchayats to step forward for TB elimination.
The Civil Surgeon added that TB is curable if treated on time. Under NTEP, free TB testing facilities—including sputum tests and chest X-rays—are available at all government hospitals in the state. CBNAAT and Truenat machines have been installed in all districts for accurate and rapid TB detection. Treatment for all types of TB is free at state government hospitals.
District TB Officer Dr. Shakti Sharma informed that under the NiKshay Poshan Yojana, every TB patient receives ₹1,000 monthly assistance for nutritious food during treatment. Today, the Sonalika Group provided ration kits to 50 patients under this initiative.
