650th birth anniversary celebrations to begin from Khuralgarh Sahib on November 22; four-day procession to pass through Balachaur, Garhshankar,Mahilpur , Banga and Nawanshahr

A coordination committee for the 650th Prakash Purb of Satguru Ravidas Maharaj has been constituted, with its office-bearers drawing up the blueprint for a four-day shobha yatra across the district. A meeting of the committee was held at Geeta Bhavan here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Dr Davinder Sharma.
Paramjit Rattewalia, coordinator of the yatra, said the procession was being organised to mark the 650th birth anniversary of the guru, and the meeting was convened to finalise its route and organisational responsibilities. The yatra will set off on November 22 from Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, the spiritual retreat of Guru Ravidas, after paying obeisance there, he said.
On the opening day, the procession will pass through Singhpur, Mangupur, Bhaddi, Thopia and Kathgarh before halting for the night at Balachaur. On November 23, it will move through Majari, Sahiba, Saroa and Samundra before reaching Garhshankar and then Mahilpur.
The next day, November 24, the yatra will travel via Pachnangal, Mahil Gehla, Khamachon and Mukandpur to reach Banga, where it will halt overnight. On November 25, the final leg will take the procession through Mehdipur, Nawanshahr and Rahon before it enters the town, where it will conclude.
Organising team
Dr Davinder Sharma has been named patron of the district team, with Paramjit Rattewalia as coordinator, Gulshan Kumar as sant pramukh and Varun Vedi as deputy sant pramukh. Varinder Kumar will be security in-charge, Daljit Singh Ajnoha publicity in-charge, Amit Kumar deputy publicity in-charge, Lakhpreet Kumar transport in-charge and Sanjeev Duggal finance in-charge.
Segment-level office-bearers
For the Balachaur Assembly segment, Anoop Kumar has been appointed in-charge and Rajiv Anand head. Gurdakesh will be in-charge for Garhshankar, with Jasveer Singh as head, while Varun Jain and Dr Balveer will be in-charge and head respectively for the Banga segment. Raman Malhotra and Satnam Sehjal will hold the corresponding posts for the Nawanshahr segment.
The meeting concluded with the recitation of the shanti mantra.
