Hoshiarpur/ April 17/Daljeet Ajnoha : Shiromani Akali Dal has stepped up preparations for the forthcoming municipal corporation elections in Hoshiarpur, with party leaders resolving to field candidates in all 50 wards, district urban president Jatinder Singh “Lali” Bajwa said on Thursday. The announcement was made during an important meeting held at Bajwa’s residence, where regional in-charge Sanjeev Talwar was also present.
Addressing the meeting, Bajwa said the Akali Dal has always lived up to people’s expectations and would secure a strong mandate in the civic polls. He said party workers were ready to contest from every ward with strong grassroots candidates who were already reaching out to residents door to door.
Bajwa added that meetings would be held in every ward in the days ahead to mobilise public support, and that the party had prepared an elaborate election strategy. He said ward-wise teams had already been formed to ensure smooth campaign coordination.
Claiming that the city’s people were unhappy with the present administration and wanted change, Bajwa said the Akali Dal was the answer. He also said party workers were highly motivated and fully prepared to enter the electoral contest with full strength.
Sanjeev Talwar said workers would play the most important role in ensuring victory and must shoulder their responsibilities with dedication. He said the party’s objective was not only to win the election, but also to give a new direction to the city’s development.
