Tanda Volunteer Barinder Singh Masiti

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha /Jun 17 :  Truth of life is that death comes to everyone on a fixed day, but there is no need to fear it. God has given us breaths that sustain this body today and tomorrow. While people live for themselves and their families, some devote every breath to saving the lives of others in obedience to the Divine.
Speaking during a special meeting, social worker and organ-donation coordinator from Tanda, Varinder Singh Masiti, said, “God gave me these breaths so I could do something in this world. It is humanity’s duty that when my body can no longer serve me, its organs should go to those in need. That thought gives me peace. While I am alive I always urge people to donate blood. I am 65 years old and have donated blood 13 times. I do not know who received my blood, because I donate only by God’s will. I will continue to donate blood and motivate others to do the same — this is my life’s journey.”
He said, “I have been doing this work for 26 years. I cycle hundreds of kilometers every day to meet needy people and raise awareness. Death is certain, so there is no reason to fear it. I have neither frightened anyone nor been afraid myself. If death is to come, let it come — there is no harm in that. If God takes back my breaths and calls it death, I will thank Him.”
Masiti appealed from the heart that when his body is gone, his friends and relatives should donate both his eyes. He requested doctors to remove any suitable organs from his body after death and give them to those in need. The organs already taken from him have given recipients new light and support in life. The person who can see now has a life that is many times better and will be grateful to God for making it possible. Through corneal transplantation, that person has received a chance to see the world; for this, Masiti expressed gratitude to the doctors, institutions, charitable trusts, club presidents, panchayat members and everyone who helped make it possible.
Masiti said that one should return to the Creator what was given — the body should be returned in the same condition as it was received. He urged everyone to do their duty and donate organs when they leave this world. He also offered his heartfelt thanks to all.
