Vastu defects may cause delay

Every event in human life—whether physical, mental, financial or social—is linked, in one way or another, with the Vastu of one’s building, says internationally acclaimed Vastu expert and author Dr Bhupendra Vastu Shastri.
He said that, nowadays, people often give greater importance to interior decoration while disregarding the principles of Vastu. As a result, eligible boys and girls may face delays in marriage, receive no suitable proposals, or find that marriage discussions fail to progress. In some cases, engagements are followed by an immediate breakdown in the relationship.
According to Dr Bhupendra, such problems may be associated, as per Vastu beliefs, with defects in the south-western (Nairutya) and north-western (Vayavya) corners of a building. A defect in the south-western corner may arise from the presence of an underground water source, an undeveloped or vacant portion, a pit, drainage from the entire house, the main entrance, a kitchen, a well or a borewell. A south-western portion that is lower than the other directions may also be considered a defect.
He said such conditions were believed to cause delays in marriage or create obstacles in marital life. If the north-western corner is also affected, girls and women in the family may face such difficulties. If, along with defects in the south-west and north-west, the south-eastern (Agneya) corner is also defective, tensions in married life may continue to increase. In extreme cases, eligible young men and women may remain deprived of marital life, he claimed.
Dr Bhupendra further said that, in some families, one child’s marriage was solemnised at the appropriate age while another faced repeated delays. According to his interpretation of Vastu, the impact depended on the affected direction and the order of birth.
He said a defect in the north-eastern (Ishan) corner could affect the first and fourth children; a defect in the south-eastern corner could affect the second and sixth; a defect in the north-western corner could affect the third and seventh; while a defect in the south-western corner could cause delays in the marriage of the fifth child. These associations form part of traditional Vastu beliefs and are not established as scientific causes of marriage delays.
