17-Year-Old Footballer Akash Brings Glory

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 4 : A special interaction was held with 17-year-old footballer Akash, who has brought pride to his village panjour block, district, Punjab, and India through his outstanding performance on foreign soil. Akash represented the YFC Team in the Street Child World Cup 2026 held in Mexico City, where he played a crucial role as the team’s goalkeeper.
Displaying remarkable skill and determination, Akash and his team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and reached the final. Although the team finished as runners-up, their impressive performance won widespread appreciation and admiration.
Upon his return to his native village Panjour in Hoshiarpur district, a festive atmosphere prevailed. Villagers warmly welcomed him, distributed sweets, and celebrated his achievement with great enthusiasm. People from the village and surrounding areas extended their blessings and best wishes for his bright future.
During the interaction, Akash credited his family for their constant support and encouragement. He also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late coach, Jassi well-known (Footballer and Coach), whom he described as the main force behind his success. Akash said that it was his coach who introduced him to football and taught him every aspect of the game, from basic skills to disciplined training and match preparation.
He expressed gratitude for the guidance and inspiration he received from his late coach, stating that his achievements would not have been possible without his mentorship. Akash also thanked all the religious institutions of his village, saying that their blessings and support had always motivated him.
At just 17 years of age, Akash has competed against teams from different countries and has successfully brought recognition to his village, district, Punjab, and India on the international stage. His achievement serves as an inspiration for aspiring young athletes and highlights the immense sporting talent emerging from rural Punjab.
