Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 11 : Dilip Singh Rana, popularly known as The Great Khali, has carved a unique place for himself in Indian sports and entertainment. Born on 27 August 1972 in a small village in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, Khali rose from a humble farming background to earn worldwide fame through sheer hard work and determination.
Before stepping into professional wrestling, Rana trained in karate in Shimla and later served in the Punjab Police, where his athletic abilities began to attract attention. His sporting journey gained momentum in the mid-1990s when he won the Mr. Punjab title in 1996, followed by the Mr. North India title in the same year. In 1997, he went on to win the Mr. India title, further establishing his reputation as a disciplined and powerful athlete.
Rana entered professional wrestling in 2000 and trained in San Francisco before making his first international fight in Tokyo, Japan, in 2001. His entry into global wrestling as The Great Khali brought him immense recognition and made him a household name across the world.
Today, Khali remains admired not only for his achievements in the ring but also for his simple nature and continued public presence. He has also opened Khali Dhaba near Karnal and often shares motivational messages with his millions of followers on social media.
