Punjab Government is trying to divert public attention after the decision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the widespread criticism over the proposed sacrilege law relating to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji: Vijay Sampla
Hoshiarpur /July 5/Daljeet Ajnoha : Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Sampla stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has once again issued him a notice, despite the fact that he has already appeared before the SIT, fully cooperated with the investigation, and submitted in writing that he remains committed to extending complete cooperation at every stage.
He said that despite repeated requests, the SIT has failed to provide copies of the documents, records, or communications on the basis of which his explanation is being sought or on which his signatures are allegedly relied upon. Seeking an explanation from a citizen without furnishing the relevant documents is contrary to the principles of natural justice and due process of law.
Mr. Sampla informed the SIT in writing that owing to prior unavoidable commitments, he would be unable to appear on July 6. However, he has confirmed his appearance on July 7 and reiterated his willingness to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Alleging political vendetta, Vijay Sampla said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is attempting to divert public attention from pressing public issues. He further alleged that following the decision of Sri Akal Takht Sahib concerning the Chief Minister, and the widespread criticism faced by the government over the proposed legislation relating to the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the state government is under severe moral and political pressure. According to him, targeting opposition leaders, particularly those belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party, is an attempt to shift the public narrative.
He added that the Bharatiya Janata Party is the world’s largest political party and is serving people through governments in a majority of Indian states. Targeting BJP leaders, he said, is a failed attempt by the Punjab Government to conceal its own political failures.
Mr. Sampla further stated that Punjab is grappling with serious challenges, including drug abuse, unemployment, deteriorating law and order, farmers’ issues, and stalled development. Instead of addressing these concerns, the state government appears more interested in pursuing political vendetta against its opponents.
Reaffirming his faith in the Constitution, the judiciary, and the rule of law, Vijay Sampla said he welcomes a fair and transparent investigation and is ready to cooperate at every stage. However, he emphasized that the investigation must strictly adhere to the principles of natural justice, transparency, and due process, including providing the relevant documents before seeking any explanation.
He concluded by stating that truth can only emerge through facts, fairness, and an impartial investigation—not through political intimidation or vindictive action.
