Nawanshahr / Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.30 : District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Rajesh Dhiman has issued an order using powers under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023 that Pregabalin medicine can be distributed by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a specified period. He directed that a complete record of this medicine should be kept by the pharmacy.
He said that the Civil Surgeon has informed through his office letter number Drugs / 2023/452 dated 24.8.2023 that Pregabalin is commonly used to treat patients suffering from diseases related to fibromyalgia / neuralgia etc. as prescribed by medical experts / psychiatrists /. But high doses of Pregabalin can be misused as a medicine. Therefore, Pregabalin medicine should be given by the pharmacy only on the basis of approval of a competent doctor and for a specified time. This order will remain in force till 25 December 2024.
