Akali Veteran Harjit Singh Matharu

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/June 4 : Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Tikshan Sood said that ahead of the municipal corporation elections, large numbers of people from other parties are joining the BJP, attracted by its pro-people policies. He said that looking at recent history, it is clear that during the BJP’s tenure the city received 100 percent household sewerage and drinking water connections, and major projects such as the new bus terminal, a mini secretariat, the municipal corporation building, the Nara and Paripariya dams were undertaken for Hoshiarpur.
Sood said that it was under the BJP-led municipal administration that the city saw unparalleled progress in lane and road repairs, drinking water supply, sanitation and street lighting. He added that people prefer politics of development, whereas the current Punjab government only provides material for jokes and idle talk and confines its work to advertisements.
In this context, senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader, former Backward Classes district president and Doaba in‑charge Harjit Singh Matharu left the Akali Dal and joined the BJP in the presence of former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood, Nipun Sharma, Meenu Sethi, Sanju Arora, Harmanjit Singh Walia, Neelam Rana, former councillor Ashok Kumar, Mahinder Pal Dhiman, Ravinder Singh Chadda and other BJP leaders.
Matharu said he was impressed by the work of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and joined the party for the welfare of Punjab. BJP leaders assured him that he would receive full respect and recognition as a member of the BJP family, and that his political and social popularity would strengthen the party further.
