Chhath Festival Concludes with Grand

Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.28 : The traditional festival of faith and purity, Chhath Puja, concluded on Monday morning with thousands of devotees offering arghya to the rising Sun across various ghats in Hoshiarpur. The city witnessed a vibrant display of devotion and cultural spirit as men and women in traditional attire performed rituals seeking prosperity and well-being for their families.The Durga Puja Sewa Committee, Purhira, organized the celebrations on an impressive and well-structured scale. A special Chhath ghat was set up at the Government Elementary School grounds in Purhira, featuring colorful decorations, efficient lighting arrangements, and strict cleanliness measures.Committee chairman Ramashankar, president Rajiv Thekedar, general secretary Bajrangi Pandey, and other members extended a warm welcome to all devotees. Food and prasad distributions were also arranged for participants observing the fast.The event was attended by Hoshiarpur Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda as chief guest, along with former MP Vijay Sampla, ADC Oyesha Mandal, advocate Rohit Joshi, and social workers Sarfaraz Safi Heer, Rajiv Mahajan, Bindu Sharma, Dr. Randhir Singh, Ashwani Ohri, and others.Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries lauded the committee’s efforts and said that Chhath Puja symbolizes the essence of Indian tradition, promoting harmony, discipline, and reverence for nature through Sun worship. They emphasized that such festivals encourage unity and strengthen social bonds.The atmosphere remained highly devotional as participants sang traditional hymns and offered prayers to the Sun God while standing in water. The committee concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks and announced plans for an even grander event next year.
