32 teams have been formed in the district to prevent incidents of stubble burning
 Farmers should not burn stubble, use alternative methods
Tanda/ Hoshiarpur/ Daljit Ajnoha /November 02 :  Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Surender Lamba today visited village Bhulpur in Block Tanda. During this, they informed about the steps being taken by the administration to prevent stubble burning and made farmers aware about stubble management.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a total of 32 teams have been formed in the district by the civil and police administration, out of which 10 teams have been formed only for Tanda Block, which is a sensitive area. She said that these teams are going to the field and ensuring that stubble is not burnt in any field. These teams are going from village to village and making farmers aware about the benefits of stubble management and the harm caused by stubble burning.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the bales being made from straw in the village and praised the efforts of the farmers. While interacting with the farmers, she told them about various options for straw management. She said that instead of burning straw, it can be used through ex-situ and in-situ management. Its non-aligned methods not only protect the environment but also maintain the fertility of the land.
She also reminded the farmers that strict restrictions have been imposed on burning straw by the Supreme Court and legal action will be taken against the violators. She said that if a farmer needs any special machinery for straw management, she can contact the concerned agriculture officer. She said that various types of machinery are being provided to the farmers so that farmers can manage the straw in a safe manner.
SSP Surender Lamba said on the occasion that burning straw not only pollutes the environment but also reduces the fertility of the land. He appealed to the farmers not to burn straw and use alternative methods.
  He appealed to all the farmers to cooperate in protecting the environment by not burning the stubble.  On this occasion, SDM Tanda Pankaj Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer Deepinder Singh and other officers were also present.
