Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has issued 57 temporary licenses for retail sale of firecrackers during this year’s Diwali festival through a draw of lots conducted in a transparent manner with videography at the District Administrative Complex meeting hall. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar and Assistant Commissioner Parampreet Singh were also present during the proceedings.The Deputy Commissioner informed that a total of 858 applications were received across the district through service centers, and the allotment process for licenses was completed through the draw today. Those selected are required to obtain casual GST registration from the taxation department. She clarified that these licenses are valid only for specific locations determined by the administration. Detailed guidelines from the Punjab and Haryana High Court dated September 22, 2023, regarding stall construction, safety norms, and sale rules were shared with sellers.She warned that selling firecrackers without a license or outside the designated sites will result in strict legal action. Licensed outlets will be allowed to sell firecrackers only from October 11 to October 20 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. All SDMs and DSPs have been directed to ensure that sales take place only at authorized sites, with routine checks to prevent violations. All Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Area Magistrates, and district police have been instructed to ensure full compliance with government orders and High Court directives.
