District Yoga Championship inaugurated by

Tikshn Sood, president of the District Yoga Association, Hoshiarpur, inaugurated the 14th District Yoga Championship today at Sood Bhawan. The opening session began with lighting the ceremonial lamp and children performing Saraswati Vandana. As part of the cultural programme, the participants presented rhythmic yoga drills and young girls performed a Punjabi gidda.
Advocate Arvind Sood, president of Sood Sabha, extended best wishes to the contestants. In his inaugural address, Tikshan Sood praised the virtues of yoga, saying it not only keeps the body fit but also unites the mind and the soul. He said that since the association’s founding in 2013, the district has organised the annual championship to connect younger generations with yoga. Winning contestants go on to represent Hoshiarpur at the state and national levels.
This year nearly 400 participants from 18 schools, along with several other citizens, took part in the event. Sood stressed that in today’s age yoga is being relied upon to maintain physical vigor and to reduce mental stress. He also thanked Sood Sabha, Sonalika Limited, Alishan Plywood and Savitri Plywood for their valuable contributions.
Among those present were yoga instructors Ram Charan, Tulsi Sahu, Nakul Shastri, Kumar Gaurav, Sakshi, Pooja Kumari, Surinder Singh, Jatin Kumar, Manish Kumar and Anita Jaiswal; prominent local figures including Arvind Sood (President, Sood Sabha), Ashok Singla (MD, Plywood), Keshav Sood (Vice‑President, Sood Sabha), Bharat Bhushan Sood, Sanjeev Gupta (MD, Hindustan Marble), Vipin Sood, Arun Sood, Amar Malik, Vincy Malik and Krishna Chand Sharma; office‑bearers of the Yoga Association Ram Dev Yadav, Sanjeev Sharma, Suneet Sharma, Manjinder Sian, Akshay Kumar, Anil Sood, Vijay Thakur, Neerja Sood and Shruti Sood; and principals and staff members of participating schools.
