Union Food Processing Industries Ministry gives its nod

Industry to be functional in a year to give major boost to cultivation of fruits and vegetables
Hoshiarpur/April 1/Daljeet Ajnoha : In order to give a big push to fruits and vegetables cultivation in the region, a state-of-art modern fruit and vegetable processing industry project would be set up in Chabbewal constituency as Union Food Processing Industry Ministry has given its nod.
Divulging details of this prestigious project, Lok Sabha Member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar had urged the Central Ministry to establish this project in Chabbewal constituency to boost the food processing industry. Following this, they met Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan to get the approval for this project. He informed that this project would be established at an outlay of Rs 18 crore and will become operational within the next 12 months. The industry especially processing the peas and potatoes would prove a milestone in the in the region, he added.
Lok Sabha Member also added that Hoshiarpur and the adjoining areas have immense potential for the production of fruits and vegetables including peas, carrot and potatoes. The Farmers are already aware of the opportunities in the food processing industry, which would further give a fillip to crop diversification thus supplementing the income of peasantry.
Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal stated that once this project starts, it will create hundreds of employment opportunities especially for women. He added that Union Minister Chirag Paswan has given approval for this unit under the processing and preservation of fruits and vegetables. He further informed that this unit will be equipped with modern facilities for fruit and vegetable processing, which will benefit farmers and other stakeholders.
MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal thanked Union Minister Paswan and MP Dr. Chanbewal for the project besides asserting that Punjab Government would ensure all possible help in setting up this project. He said Punjab Government was already taking pathbreaking decision and steps to boost invest in the state and this project would also be established in set timeline. He said the fruits and vegetables cultivation would be b motivated with an accelerated pace in the region as well as strengthening crop diversification. The project would be functional in next 12 months, he added.
