Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/August 11 : Former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Teekshan Sood on Tuesday praised the courage of Punjab Police and said their efficiency helped suppress terrorism and prevent many other dangerous incidents in the state. He expressed regret that the ruling party in Punjab has “crippled” the police force, emboldening criminals and anti-national elements.
Sood alleged that law-and-order failures are now visible across the state: attacks near police stations, daily breaches of public safety and a rise in killings, lootings and gangster activity. He criticized the state administration for failing to check these trends.
Speaking about the recent transfer of the Amritsar Commissioner of Police, Sood said the officer was punished for exposing an alleged ISI-linked module. According to Sood, the module was involved in plans to incite violence during student protests in Jantar Mantar by using petrol bombs and weapons, with the aim of destabilizing the country. He said the plot failed but warned that, had it succeeded, it could have sparked widespread unrest.
Sood claimed the disclosures about the alleged ISI module seriously embarrassed the Aam Aadmi Party, and that is why the party could not tolerate the Amritsar commissioner remaining in a sensitive border district even for a single day. He urged the central government to order a high-level probe by federal agencies into Aam Aadmi Party connections with the Pakistani agency ISI, which he alleged has been used to carry out anti-India activities in the country.
Calling Gurseep (Gurpreet) Singh Bhullar “honest and brave,” Sood demanded that the officer be encouraged and protected for acting in the national interest.
