Health Department Intensifies Vigilance to

Hoshiarpur/Oct 16/Daljeet Ajnoha : To curb food adulteration during the ongoing festive season, the Health Department has launched strict monitoring and enforcement drives across Hoshiarpur district. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain stated that ensuring the health and safety of citizens remains the administration’s top priority. To achieve this, dedicated teams have been formed to inspect food quality and crack down on adulteration.Providing details, Jain said that under the supervision of District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, three Food Safety Officers—Munish Sodhi, Vivek Kumar, and Ishank Bansal—along with their team members, are conducting extensive inspections in various areas of the district, including rural regions. The teams are collecting samples from sweet shops, dairy and dairy-based products such as paneer, desi ghee, and khoya, as well as packaged sweets, spices, fruits, vegetables, and other edible items. These teams are maintaining continuous vigilance throughout the festive period to ensure that only safe and high-quality food items reach consumers.The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to exercise caution while purchasing food items. She advised them to check product packaging and expiry dates carefully, and to immediately report any suspected adulteration or unsafe products to the Health Department.She added that samples collected from different locations have been sent to laboratories for testing, and strict action will be taken against any outlet or manufacturer found guilty of adulteration or substandard quality. Jain said the monitoring campaign would continue throughout the festive season.Appealing for public cooperation, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged residents to join hands in promoting the message of “Safe Food, Healthy Festivals,” and contribute to building a society free from food adulteration.
