Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha/May 22 — A help desk and guidance cell have been set up at Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College to provide important information to students interested in pursuing technical education, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said.
Addressing the ongoing online registration for admissions to various technical colleges across Punjab, Ms. Jain said the local help desk has been established for the convenience of prospective students and will offer necessary information about technical courses. She explained that students who have passed Class 10 can take admission into the first year of engineering diploma courses, while ITI (two-year), Class 12 vocational and Class 12 science pass students are eligible for second-year lateral entry.
“In today’s competitive era, technical education holds great importance,” the Deputy Commissioner said. To assist applicants with online registration and other course-related information, college staff have been assigned special duties at the government polytechnic. She urged interested students to take advantage of the registration that has already begun.
Providing additional information, college Principal Rajesh Kumar said a dedicated guidance cell has also been set up to inform students and their guardians about technical courses offered across the state. The cell is offering valuable information on various engineering diploma and pharmacy courses available at the college, he added.
Established in 1962, the government polytechnic has made a significant contribution to the education sector and has been declared one of North India’s top polytechnic colleges, the principal said. The college currently runs diploma courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, ECE, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering (Plastics and Polymer), and Pharmacy.
