Intensified Pulse Polio Drive: 89,840 Children

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/June 28 : Following Punjab Health Department directives, the intensified Pulse Polio campaign being run in the district from June 28 to 30 recorded strong performance on its opening day, with 89,840 children under five receiving the polio vaccine out of a target of 1,40,768 — achieving 63.82 percent of the goal.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal inspected various polio booths and vaccination activities in the Garhshankar area during the campaign. Speaking with health workers posted at the booths, she instructed them to ensure no eligible child is left without the polio dose and to make timely efforts to reach every child. She commended the teams for their work and urged them to carry the campaign forward with full dedication and responsibility.
Dr. Kamal said children who missed the polio dose on the first day for any reason will be covered through door-to-door visits on June 29 and 30. She added that the health department’s booth, mobile and transit teams will remain active throughout the campaign to ensure that no eligible child in the district misses the polio vaccine.
She appealed to all parents in the district to cooperate with health teams over the next two days and ensure that any child under five who has not yet received the polio dose is vaccinated. She emphasized that every citizen’s cooperation is vital to build a polio-free society.
