Jimpa lays foundation for sewerage

Hoshiarpur/ Oct 18 /Daljeet Ajnoha :  MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa today initiated sewerage work in the Om Nagar and Purhiran areas, adjoining Wards 16 and 17 of Hoshiarpur. A sewerage line, to be laid over half a kilometre at an estimated cost of Rs 15 lakh, is expected to improve sanitation facilities in the locality.
Addressing residents on the occasion, Jimpa thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, saying the Punjab Government was committed to the overall development of cities and to providing better basic amenities to the people. He said several development projects had been undertaken in Hoshiarpur over the past four and a half years, benefiting residents.
The MLA said the sewerage project had been started after taking into account the needs of the area’s residents. It would improve the drainage system and provide relief from day-to-day sanitation problems.
He assured residents that road construction would begin soon after the completion of the sewerage work, so that people did not face inconvenience in commuting. Jimpa said his aim was to ensure development works in every ward and locality of Hoshiarpur on a priority basis, enabling residents to get a cleaner environment, better roads and necessary civic amenities.
Among those present on the occasion were Mayor Parveen Saini, Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda, councillor Kamaljit Sonu, Numberdar Ranjit Rana, former councillor Harpal Singh Pala and Kush Sharda, besides local residents.
