: Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar said that devotees from Hoshiarpur going to Maidi Mela in Himachal Pradesh will not be allowed to face any kind of inconvenience. Special arrangements are being ensured by the district administration for the convenience of the devotees. He was addressing a meeting of officials regarding the arrangements related to the fair in the District Administrative Complex today.
He informed that Dera Baba Badbhaag Singh Holi Mela is being organized from March 7 to March 17 in village Maidi of Tehsil Amb, District Una, Himachal Pradesh. A large number of devotees from Punjab go to this fair, in view of which appropriate arrangements are being made by the Hoshiarpur District Administration.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that since a large number of devotees visit the fair, special attention is being paid to traffic management. He directed the police department to keep its teams active 24 hours a day to maintain smooth traffic system on all routes leading to Una, so that the devotees do not face any kind of problem.
He appealed to the devotees not to travel in tractor-trolleys, trucks, canters and other heavy vehicles, as such vehicles can cause accidents.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the Regional Transport Officer to ensure strict checking of heavy vehicles and action against overloaded vehicles. He said that devotees should not use such vehicles to avoid any inconvenience.
He informed that it would be mandatory to take permission from the concerned SDM for setting up langar and using loudspeakers. Langar organizers were instructed to set up the langar place away from the main road, so that traffic is not disrupted. He also appealed not to use single-use plastic for langar.
Nikas Kumar directed SDM Hoshiarpur and SDM Garhshankar to provide permission for langar and loudspeakers on time. He issued necessary guidelines to Municipal Corporation, Public Health, Health Department, Pollution Control Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Public Works Department, Power Corporation and Roadways Department.
Along with this, the district police was instructed to prepare a special route plan for the devotees so that the devotees do not face any traffic related problems.
On this occasion, SDM Hoshiarpur Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, SDM Garhshankar Harbans Lal, PCS under training Parampreet Singh, Regional Transport Officer R.S. Gill and other officers were present.
