Daljeet Ajnoha l Hoshiarpur : May 26 : In an exclusive interaction today, Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal shared his insights on the Punjab Government’s recently launched campaign ‘Yudh Nashe Virudh’ (War Against Drugs), addressing several pressing issues including drug eradication, educational reforms, developmental projects, employment opportunities, and irrigation infrastructure.
Dr. Chabbewal praised the state government’s zero-tolerance approach towards drug abuse, calling it essential for safeguarding the future of Punjab’s youth. He emphasized, “Punjab is a land of young people, and our foremost priority is to free them from the clutches of addiction. The government has taken concrete steps – awareness camps at the village level, deployment of special task forces, and strengthening of rehabilitation centres.”
Discussing the transformation in the education sector, he highlighted the ‘School of Eminence’ initiative, which is revitalizing government schools across the state. “The aim is to provide children with education enriched with modern technology and progressive thinking so they are well-prepared for global challenges,” he said.
On the issue of mining, Dr. Chabbewal asserted that all operations are being strictly monitored under a transparent policy framework to curb illegal mining and safeguard state revenue. He further informed that several infrastructure projects, including new roads, bridges, and irrigation systems, are progressing at a rapid pace.
Focusing on employment, he stated that the government is consistently organizing job fairs and expanding skill development programs to generate both public and private sector opportunities for the youth.
Dr. Chabbewal also addressed the issue of installing railings along the Bist Doab canal and providing canal irrigation water to nearby agricultural lands. He confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared and relevant departments have been instructed to commence the work.
