AAP volunteers’ involvement in scheme draws charges of partisanship
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.25 : District BJP president Nipun Sharma has branded the Punjab government’s announced ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’ as a premeditated deception of the public, hollow propaganda, and politics of false claims. He stated that while the government claims health insurance coverage up to ₹10 lakh, the reality is that only ₹1 lakh responsibility from the government has been clearly outlined, with no concrete, written, or official information forthcoming on the remaining ₹9 lakh.Raising pointed questions, Sharma asked: If the government can only provide ₹1 lakh in insurance, who will arrange the remaining ₹9 lakh? Will this amount be left to private insurance companies, or will it be recovered from patients at the time of treatment? Claiming ₹10 lakh coverage without a clear financial model or government notification is an attempt to mislead Punjab’s people.Expressing serious concerns, he wondered, “Is it possible that the ₹5 lakh under the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme is being clubbed with this to inflate the total to ₹10 lakh, and presented as the state government’s achievement?” If so, this would be outright deception and a politics of falsely claiming credit.Highlighting the government’s failures, Sharma said Ayushman Bharat has already fallen victim to the Aam Aadmi Party’s incompetence in Punjab. He noted that hospitals treating patients under Ayushman cards are still owed crores of rupees by the state government, rendering the scheme virtually defunct in the state.He questioned: “If the government can’t pay hospitals for the ₹5 lakh Ayushman scheme, how can it promise ₹10 lakh insurance cover to Punjab’s people from its mouth? This is clearly a lie and a mirage.”Sharma also raised doubts over the scheme’s implementation, pointing to reports that cards will only be issued to those cleared by the government’s youth coordinators. “This isn’t health security; it’s turning into a system of recommendations and partisanship,” he said.Accusing the AAP of double standards, he remarked that when BJP governments were issuing Ayushman cards, these very people alleged data theft. But now in power, the AAP government is collecting sensitive data from millions without any written guarantee of its security.Sharma demanded that the Punjab government immediately clarify how much of the ₹10 lakh insurance will actually come from the state, how much from central schemes, and how much exists only on paper. He warned that if the truth isn’t revealed, the BJP will treat this as Punjab’s biggest health scam, take it to the people district-wide, and launch protests if needed.
