Punjab holds first-ever two-day Muay

Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha/July 19 : The Punjab State Muay Thai Technical Training Seminar 2026 was held at Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Senior Secondary Public School, Kartarpur, organized by the Amateur Muay Thai Association (Punjab) under the chairmanship of coach Sher Singh Nandra. Association president Mamta and general secretary Mahinder Pal said coaches and athletes from various districts of Punjab attended the two-day seminar with great enthusiasm.
Coach Ali Mohamad led the technical sessions, instructing players and coaches on Muay Thai techniques and explaining the sport’s rules in detail. Special guest Sriram Chaudhary, general secretary of UMAYI, attended the seminar’s inaugural ceremony. Members of the Amateur Muay Thai Association (Punjab) welcomed him with bouquets and a ceremonial shawl. Addressing participants, Mr Chaudhary urged attending coaches to promote Muay Thai across the state.
Several dignitaries attended to bless the event and encourage participants, including MLA S. Balkar Singh, Youth Welfare Board chairman Rajiv Walia, Vishal Singh, Jathedar Ranjit Singh Kahlon, DSP Narender Singh Aujla, Aam Aadmi Party in-charge, Mandi Board chairman Gurpal Singh Pala, Punjab Board Khatri chairman Gagan Chhabra, Municipal Council president Varun Bawa, vice-president councillor Jatin Sharma, councillor Balwinder Singh Goldi, councillor Jasleen Kaur (wife of Jaswinder Singh Babla), and representatives from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Club including Charanjit Singh Purewal. Punit Verma, founder of Skill Mentor, also attended.
Rajiv Walia and the Youth Welfare Board members presented mementos to the guests and thanked them. Walia noted that this was the first Muay Thai technical seminar held in Punjab and said nearly 300 players participated. Coaches from Jaipur provided special instruction to Punjab athletes during the event.
Also present were coaches and officials from across the region, including coaches Pradeep Bajaj, Sukhdeep Singh Bajwa and Neelam (Kapurthala); Harpreet Singh Nadala; Prince Kol (Phagwara); Daljeet Singh (Jalandhar); Nirmal Singh (Jalandhar); Amandeep Singh (Moga); Khushpreet Kaur (Moga); Priya (Moga); Harmeet Singh “Tiger” (Tarn Taran); Parminder Kaur (Tarn Taran); Gurnoor Singh (Tarn Taran); Jaswant Kaur (Tarn Taran); Jungle Kumar (Faridkot); Manpreet Kaur (Kartarpur); Sadeep Singh (Amritsar); Mahinder Pal (Pathankot); Tamanna (Ludhiana); Aakashdeep Singh (Ferozpur); and Rohit (Hoshiarpur), among others.
