Dr. Ravjot Singh Inspects Sports

Hoshiarpur/ May 21/Daljeet Ajnoha : Punjab’s Minister for Prisons and NRI Affairs, Dr. Ravjot Singh, on Thursday inspected the ongoing work on a sports ground being built at a cost of Rs 31 lakh in Kakkon village of the Sham Chaurasi assembly constituency. He said the Punjab government is spending Rs 1,100 crore to construct 3,000 modern sports grounds across the state to promote sports.
While reviewing the construction with residents of Kakkon, the cabinet minister said that such modern facilities will play a major role in engaging youth in sports and help them excel at national and international levels in their chosen disciplines.
Dr. Singh said that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership the state government will also establish nearly 6,000 indoor gyms to provide better exercise facilities to the public. He added that the government periodically honours athletes who bring recognition to the state and the country at national and international forums, encouraging stronger performances from Punjabi sportspersons.
The cabinet minister said the Panchayati Raj and Public Works Department is implementing e-sports ground projects in the district to further boost sports activities in rural areas. He also announced that three more sports grounds worth Rs 1.37 crore will soon be constructed in Dhoot Khurd, Jhameri Patti and Chakk Ladian villages.
Dr. Singh affirmed that, under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership, the state government is committed to the all-round development of every community and region so that Punjab can be counted among the leading states in every sphere of progress.
Also present at the site were District Planning Committee chairperson Karamjit Kaur, block committee members Gurbachan Das and Aadesh Chand, and other local dignitaries.
